Enhanced Remote Mirroring

Enhanced Remote Mirroring is used to mirror logical drives across sites. The pair consists of a primary logical drive on one storage subsystem and a secondary logical drive on another storage subsystem. The primary logical drive is the one receiving update from the host (write operations). Using the Enhanced Remote Mirroring feature, the storage subsystem automatically synchronizes the data to the secondary logical drive located on the other storage subsystem.

In the event of the disaster or catastrophic failure of the primary sites, one can reverse roles by promoting the secondary logical drive to a primary role. Hosts can than read and write the newly promoted logical drive, and business operations can continue.
